Manchester Memorial Hospital (MMH) held its annual CREATION Life themed Health Fair at EKU Manchester Campus on 24th March 2016.
The Health Fair was free and open to the public, and offered free health screenings, give-a-ways, door prizes, fun for children, and information for every family member's health.
"We are excited to offer various community events like the health fair to the residents of Clay County," said Hurriyat Ghayyur, Director of Marketing at the hospital. In today's world, knowledge is power, and with the information offered at events like this, we learn how to live healthier lives and take care of ourselves.
At the fair, participants learned about heart health, women's health, diabetes control and prevention, smoking cessation, stress management, maintaining a healthy weight, exercise and fitness and much more.
Health screenings such as total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. were done on the spot by Dr. Neeraj Mahboob's team at Medical Associates of Southeastern Kentucky. The team from Red Bird carried out bone density screenings as well. Encouraging people to get screened and lead a healthier lifestyle is a very important part of what we do, said Ghayyur. The earlier you know if there are any problems, the earlier they can be addressed.
There were many wonderful door prizes to be won that day. Walmart donated an exercise bicycle, won by Chads Hope, while IGA donated two gift cards worth $125 each won by Greg Hibbert and Kathy Allen. CHIQ Med Spa also gave away two Microdermabrasion vouchers, won by Brittany Harrison and Dr. Lynda Otalvaro. Many other exciting prizes were given away by Family Medical Center, Restoration Massage, Early Childhood Council, CCPT and Fitness Center, etc.
The hospital would like to thank the following for participating in the health fair:
