AdventHealth has named Jason Dunkel to the position of president/CEO for AdventHealth Sebring, AdventHealth Lake Placid and AdventHealth Wauchula in the Heartland Region of the West Florida Division, effective July 31. He will report to Jennifer Wandersleben, Heartland Region president/CEO, who also has leadership oversight for the market of Hardee, Highlands, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties.
“Jason has a track record of leading his teams with passion and purpose,” said David Ottati, president/CEO for the West Florida Division. “We’ve been blessed to see his impact on quality outcomes and continued growth and expansion in the West Florida Division, and we look forward to seeing him build on that as he steps into this new role.”
Dunkel currently serves as the president/CEO for AdventHealth North Pinellas. Under his leadership, the facility completed a $20 million expansion of its emergency department in 2021, the largest construction project in the hospital’s history. Prior to being appointed CEO in 2018, he served as vice president of operations and business development for AdventHealth North Pinellas, overseeing the hospital’s growth activities and initiatives, as well as daily operations for cardiology, imaging, pharmacy and laboratory services. Dunkel also led AdventHealth North Pinellas’ expansion into Palm Harbor, Florida, with the construction and opening of a freestanding emergency room.
Prior to joining AdventHealth North Pinellas, Dunkel served in various health care operations and strategic development roles, including director of business development at Littleton Adventist Hospital, and executive director of business development and marketing at Jellico Community Hospital.
“I’m very excited to have Jason join our team in the Heartland Region,” Wandersleben said. “His ability to drive growth and his commitment to quality service and excellence will serve our Sebring, Lake Placid and Wauchula facilities as they continue to extend Christ’s healing ministry in their communities.”
Dunkel earned a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Adventist University and a master’s degree in divinity from Andrews University. He has a bachelor’s degree in theology from Southern Adventist University.
“The years I’ve spent at AdventHealth North Pinellas have been some of the most rewarding years of my career and I’m grateful for the many connections I’ve made with the team,” he said. “As I join the Sebring, Lake Placid and Wauchula teams, I look forward to collaborating with their exceptional providers, team members and community partners to deliver faith-based, consumer-focused care.”
Dunkel and his wife Katelyn have four daughters, Sophia (14), Arabella (11), Katherine (10) and Alaithea (5). Dunkel is an avid sports fan and enjoys following the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as playing a variety of sports and singing in his spare time.
