ORANGE CITY, Fla., December 21, 2016 On Dec. 16, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial donated nearly 800 pounds of food to the Community Life Center in Deltona. This is in addition to a 1,000 pounds of food donation the 175-bed made in November.
Every year we host a food drive for Thanksgiving to aid a local food pantry in providing food for the poor, underserved, and fixed income community, said Art Bakewell, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial director of pastoral care. After our recent donation in November, the Center contacted me and asked if we could do another food drive for Christmas, as the shelves were running very thin for the holiday season. Our employees were more than happy to help our neighbors in need and gave generously. We hope this food will nourish the hearts and minds of the financially distressed families and seniors living on fixed incomes within our community.
The Community Life Center is a charitable nonprofit organization that gives food and other resources to families experiencing financial hardships. It is located in Deltona at 1045 E. Normandy Blvd. It is open Tuesdays from 1 pm to 3 pm and Thursdays from 9 am to 11 am, as well as the second and third Friday of the month. To learn more, call Call407-324-1614.
