During National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, AdventHealth received a grant to translate cancer education and prevention information into Spanish.
The AdventHealth Waterman Foundation bestowed a $2,500 grant — courtesy of the Prevent Cancer Foundation® — to the AdventHealth Cancer Institute Waterman.
Using these grant funds, AdventHealth will empower Spanish-speaking neighbors with crucial educational materials on cancer screenings and early treatment, reinforcing a commitment to building healthier, stronger communities.
“We are excited to have received this grant. We see a high number of Hispanic patients and these funds will help us make it easier for Spanish-speaking consumers to access cancer prevention information in their native language,” said Janet Moore, AdventHealth Waterman cancer care navigator. “Being able to reach patients prior to any diagnosis is always the goal, and we want to equip all patients with knowledge on how to prevent cancer.”
The Prevent Cancer Foundation®, through research, education, outreach and advocacy, aims to prevent cancer diagnoses or detect cancer early enough for successful treatment. The foundation is driven by a vision of a world where cancer is preventable, detectable and beatable for all.
“This grant unlocks new pathways for outreach and engagement. It ensures that countless more individuals will have access to the vital resources they need to prevent and combat cancer effectively,” said Mabel Valdivia, AdventHealth Waterman Foundation executive director. “Gifts such as this strengthen our capacity to deliver high-quality healthcare and reinforce our commitment to serving with compassion and excellence.”
