DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 25, 2016 On June 29, the Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation golf tournament raised more than $100,000. The proceeds from the tournament will support the new Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, slated to open on Aug. 8.
This years tournament broke all fundraising records, and we owe that to the generous support from our community partners, said Julie Rand, Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation executive director. Our NICU is unique to our community; it is the only one in Volusia County with private family-centered rooms. For those families who need a NICU, these rooms are designed with them in mind, and feature sleeping and showering accommodations so that they do not need to leave their sick or premature baby.
Presented by Robins and Morton, the seventh annual tournament took place at the LPGA International golf club and was sold out. Celebrity guests NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray and NBC Sports announcer Rick Allen joined the 144 players for a scramble.
The winners of the tournament were the Stonewood Grill and Tavern team, including Blake Hunter, Victor Lohman, Albert Mlynarski and Frankie Senese.
