ORANGE CITY, Fla., December 8, 2016 Florida Hospital Fish Memorial was the only hospital in Volusia County to be named a Top Hospital from the Leapfrog Group.
Widely acknowledged as one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital can receive in the U.S., the recognition showcases Florida Hospital Fish Memorials commitment to patient safety and quality.
This is a great recognition and it is something we are very proud of. Our teams work hard every day to deliver exceptional patient care, and being named a Top Hospital from the Leapfrog Group is a validation of that hard work, said Rob Deininger, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial CEO. Increasingly patients have tools, like Leapfrog, available to help them select the best care, and this accolade speaks to our culture of safety and affirms our commitment and dedication to our communities. Nobody wants to get sick and come to the hospital, but when they do, they want to receive exceptional care by exceptional people, and that's what we do at Florida Hospital every day.
Florida Hospital Fish Memorial received a Top General Hospital distinction, and was one of 115 Top Hospitals recognized across the country. The list includes:
- 9 Top Children's Hospitals
- 56 Top General Hospitals
- 21 Top Rural Hospitals
- 29 Top Teaching Hospitals
The selection of Top Hospitals is based on the results of the 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and a hospitals ability to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each years Top Hospital Methodology.
Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than three percent of hospitals nationwide, said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. With this honor, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial has established its commitment to safer and higher quality care. Providing this level of care to patients in the Orange City area requires motivation and drive from every team member. I congratulate the board, staff and clinicians, whose efforts made this honor possible.
