ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 3, 2025 — Lake Nona residents are one step closer to having world-class inpatient medical care with a focus on whole-person health right in the community, with major construction milestones unfolding this week.
AdventHealth Lake Nona, which recently celebrated its “topping out,” meaning it has reached its full structural height. The new hospital will offer a range of services including cardiology, orthopedics, labor and delivery, urology, gastroenterology, general surgery, cancer care, bariatrics, neurology and more.
At the same time, construction crews began work on an adjacent medical office building, where physicians and team members will provide cancer care.
“We want to make sure no one ever needs to leave Central Florida for world-class care, and these investments will ensure Lake Nona residents can stay here – whether they’re starting a family or needing advanced specialty care,” said Chase Tikker, CEO of AdventHealth Lake Nona. “While the community is seeing these buildings take shape, work is also underway in recruiting physicians, nurses and other team members who are excited about bring their expertise and extending our healing ministry in the community.”
The Lake Nona community has unmet health care needs, with a shortage of 124 primary care physicians and 145 specialists. One of the greatest needs is for obstetrics and gynecology services, and AdventHealth’s investment at the hospital includes the Baby Place, with 10 labor and delivery rooms, along with operating rooms and 15 postpartum rooms.
“The Lake Nona area is one of the fastest-growing communities, and we know how important it is for women to have specialized care close to their homes and families,” said Kristin Toth, vice president of women’s services for AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division. “From low-intervention deliveries to high-risk pregnancies, we offer personalized care for every mom-to-be that’s designed for their needs today and in years to come.”
Specialized caregivers will staff the hospital, which will have a team of 600 physicians, nurses and other clinicians and support staff at opening.
The medical office building is expected to open in October 2026, with the hospital following close behind in November 2026, and are designed to integrate with a wholistic community health approach, including connecting to the Lake Nona Trail.
