Access to urology care in southeast Volusia County is expanding with the arrival of Dr. Beatriz Junqueira. She has joined AdventHealth Medical Group and cares for patients in New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange.
AdventHealth Medical Group is a network of nearly 450 physicians and advanced practice providers serving Flagler, Lake, Sumter and Volusia counties. As the local population continues to grow, AdventHealth is steadily recruiting more doctors to meet that need. Last year alone, nearly 80 physicians and advanced practitioners joined the team in Volusia County.
Urologic conditions in men and women— from kidney stones to pelvic floor disorders, cancers of the urinary tract and erectile dysfunction — affect thousands of local residents each year. In Volusia County, where one in four residents is over the age of 65, the demand for specialty care continues to climb.
Junqueira’s training in minimally invasive and reconstructive procedures helps expand the options available locally, including the use of advanced robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci Xi® system — technology that allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision and shorter recovery times.
“The addition of Dr. Junqueira to our team means patients won’t have to wait as long or drive as far to see a urologist,” said Dr. Dennis Hernandez, president and CEO of AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach. “Specialties like urology are essential to helping people live healthier, fuller lives. By expanding this care locally, we are ensuring that patients have access to the highest level of expertise without having to leave their own community.”
Junqueira earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed her urology residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese and has contributed to several research publications.
“I’ve seen how difficult it can be when someone delays care because of the distance or the wait,” said Junqueira. “My goal is to make that step easier — to listen, to offer the right options, and to help people get back to feeling like themselves again.”
Junqueira cares for patients at these locations:
