AdventHealth Zephyrhills Receives an ‘A’ for Patient Safety Again
Zephyrhills, FL… May 15, 2019 – Keeping patients safe is one of AdventHealth Zephyrhills most important standards, so learning on Wednesday, May 15, that the hospital received an ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group is a huge honor, according to Gwen Alonso, RN, the hospital’s Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.
“This designation underscores AdventHealth Zephyrhills ongoing commitment to protecting our patients from harm and providing safer health care. To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment that our community should take pride in,” Alonso said. “Hospitals that get an ‘A’ are making it a priority and working very hard to protect patients from preventable medical harm and errors. The entire AdventHealth Zephyrhills clinical and non-clinical team appreciates the community’s trust in us.”
This is the second consecutive year that AdventHealth Zephyrhills has received an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group for patient safety, Alonso added. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to 2,600 acute care hospitals across United States twice annually based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients for whom they are caring.
Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades. Its method for selecting hospital grades is peer-reviewed and fully transparent and, the results are free to the public by visiting HospitalSafetyGrade.org
Leapfrog is a national, non-profit organization that was founded in 2000 and is committed to improving health care quality and safety.
