TAVARES, Fla., May 20, 2019 – The AdventHealth Waterman Foundation has awarded eight students from five local high schools with college scholarships, totaling $16,000.
These funds came from the Edwin Budge Mead Scholarship, a legacy trust fund established in 2014 by Edwin “Budge” Mead, the first president of the Waterman Memorial Hospital Association’s board of trustees. The AdventHealth Waterman Foundation is the beneficiary of the legacy scholarship trust fund, which has awarded nearly $85,000 in scholarships to 56 local students since it was established five years ago.
This year’s scholarship winners were Romeo Adams from Mount Dora Christian Academy, Autumn Archer from Umatilla High School, Diamond Brooks from Eustis High School, Avery Davis from Mount Dora Christian Academy, Krista Kidd from Tavares High School, Isabella Leon from Eustis High School, Alexsandra Sanchez from Eustis High School, and Kaitlin Vance from Mount Dora High School. Each student received $2,000 and many are interested in pursuing careers within the healthcare industry.
“We are blessed to have been chosen as the beneficiary of these funds by Mr. Mead,” said Dr. Susan Caddell, AdventHealth Waterman Foundation board chair. “It is extremely rewarding to be able to assist local students as they move forward to pursue their passions and become our future leaders.”
