Having healthy joints is an important part of feeling whole. And when you need orthopedic expertise to help heal an injury or treat a chronic condition, we want you to feel confident about getting the care you need.
AdventHealth Palm Coast is honored to have received The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for total hip, knee and shoulder replacements . These three certifications are for Joint Commission-accredited hospitals seeking to elevate the quality, consistency and safety of their services and patient care.
The certifications were developed in response to the growing number of patients undergoing a total hip, knee or shoulder replacement surgery, as well as the increased focus on clinical evidence-based patient care as it relates to pain management, quality of life issues, functional limitation in mobility and the return to normal daily activities.
Once these certifications are obtained, the hospital becomes an Orthopedic Center of Excellence.
What is an Orthopedic Center of Excellence?
An Orthopedic Center of Excellence is a hospital or health care organization that has demonstrated an adherence to quality standards and commitment to continually improve patient care and safety. These quality standard compliance and accreditation decisions are:
- Based on the premise that some standards are “critical,” or have a more direct impact on the patient than others
- Easily understood by all parties involved
- Reflective of an organization’s performance with respect to The Joint Commission standards
- Transparent: all processes are fully disclosed to accredited and certified organizations
For AdventHealth Palm Coast, this recognition is the highest of its kind in the field of orthopedic surgery. It assures our community that they’re receiving the best possible orthopedic surgery care at our facilities.
What Are the Benefits of an Orthopedic Center of Excellence?
Throughout the accreditation process, The Joint Commission is striving to find facilities that provide an integrated service to patients from start to finish. If the surgery and rehabilitation processes are well-integrated, it means you’ll experience fewer unnecessary tests, greater information communication and better quality post-surgery care. It also leads to decreased readmission rates, shorter recovery times, more consistency in treatment and improved quality of life.
Nationally Recognized Orthopedic Care is Close to Home
Over the next 20 years, hip replacements are expected to grow by 174% and knee replacements by 673%, according to a study published by The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery. If you find yourself in need of a joint replacement or other orthopedic care now or in the future, know that we’ll remain dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate, whole-person care.
