NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., March 9, 2020 – AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach has selected Dr. David Goldman to serve as chief medical officer.
Goldman will oversee the functions related to physicians and patient care at the 109-bed facility, including medical staff services, credentialing, compliance with accrediting bodies, patient satisfaction, infection control and other quality of care measures. In addition, he will foster a patient-centered culture and develop streamlined and standardized processes to promote greater efficiency.
This role was previously held by Dr. Dennis Hernandez, who became chief executive officer for AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach in 2019.
Goldman has a 20-year career as a board-certified emergency medicine physician, most recently caring for patients at AdventHealth in the Orlando area. He previously served as the medical director of the AdventHealth Altamonte Springs emergency department and is a graduate of the AdventHealth physician leadership development program.
In addition, Goldman previously served as managing partner and finance committee chair for Florida Emergency Physicians of TeamHealth, one of the largest integrated care providers in the country. Based in Orlando, TeamHealth is a physician-led company with more than 30 years of experience in physician services across the full continuum of care. Florida Emergency Physicians is a part of TeamHealth and is the exclusive emergency medicine staffing provider for 11 facilities, spanning five counties within the AdventHealth system.
Goldman graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed an emergency medicine internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, as well as an emergency medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. Goldman also earned a master's degree in business administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). Goldman has also graduated from the Florida Medical Association’s Leadership Academy, as well as the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Directors Academy.
