Over 400 people attended the AdventHealth Waterman Mommy and More expo on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at their Tavares campus! The event was in recognition of World Breastfeeding Week and free to the public to provide family health resource information to residents.
During the Mommy and More Expo, physicians, pre-natal education experts and lactation specialists answered questions from attendees and tours were given of the hospitals Labor and Delivery area. Virtual Reality tours of the upcoming Center for Women and Children's expansion and Pediatric section of the new Emergency Department, opening in Spring 2019, were also available.
We enjoyed welcoming expectant mothers and their families to AdventHealth Waterman to showcase all of the wonderful educational opportunities and resources available, as well as giving a sneak peek of our expansion which opens this Spring, said Michael Stimson, RN, Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer, AdventHealth Waterman. We look forward to providing high-quality care for these expectant moms and their families.
Hors d’ oeuvres, kid-friendly snacks, balloon animals and Kids Corner activities for children were provided and many local and national vendors were present or made donations. Prizes at the event included services like photography sessions, baby strollers, crib, car seats, six-month supply of diapers, a pack and play, gift certificates, bicycles and baby/kid-centric merchandise.
Car seat checks were provided by City of Tavares and City of Leesburg Fire Departments and to make things a little easier, free valet was provided as well!
The well-appointed Center for Women and Children at AdventHealth Waterman features all private rooms with bath, and birth coordinator to assist you along the way. The Center is staffed by experienced board-certified OB/GYNs and 24/7 pediatric hospitalists, nurturing Labor and Delivery Registered Nurses, and lactation specialists.
