Research Project
Completion of a professional-quality longitudinal research project is an essential component of the PGY1 residency at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. Residents, project coordinators, and preceptors will collaborate early on to select a project idea with the goal of each one being unique, within the resident's range of interests, useful to current and future clinical practice, and realistically completable in a year's time. Residents at AHSM present posters at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting each year and present their completed projects to their peers at the Midwest Pharmacy Residents Conference before graduation. A manuscript of suitable quality for submission to a professional journal is the final requirement. Preceptors well-versed in multiple specialty areas are dedicated to assisting our residents with mentorship and guidance in research design and data collection, and we take pride in the value that our multitude of successful past projects have contributed to our clinical practice.
