Planning for Your Hospital Visit
- A Patient’s Right to Visitors
-
In support of a patient-centered approach to care, we recognize each patient as an individual with unique needs, who is treated with dignity and respect and is granted the power of informed choice. All patients or their support person have the right to choose who may visit them during their hospital stay, regardless of whether the visitor is a family member, a spouse, a domestic partner (including same-sex domestic partner), or other type of a visitor, as well as their right to withdraw such consent to visitation at any time.
Visitation is not restricted, limited or denied on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability. Visitation may be limited based on appropriate clinical judgment that takes into account all aspects of patient health and safety, including the negative impact that patients, visitors and associates may have on other patients within the hospital. Visitation may be limited or restricted if:
- The patient is undergoing care interventions
- Visitation may interfere with patient care
- Existing court orders restrict visitor contact with the hospital
- Visitors are disruptive, threatening or violent
- The patient needs privacy or rest
Clergy may visit patients; in the case of a patient with infectious or communicable diseases, administrative approval is required before the visit.
Please note that visitation guidelines can change at any time as needed for health and safety reasons. If visitation is not recommended for a patient, the hospital team will work with the patient, family member, caregiver and/or clergy to connect via video calling.
Individuals can report concerns or issues to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA):

Main Hospital Visiting Hours
The main hospital visiting hours are daily between 5:30 am and 8 pm.
Emergency Room Patients
Emergency department/ER patients are allowed to have one visitor (18 years or older) accompany them to their treatment room. Visitation may be restricted based on the nature of your emergency and is at the discretion of our care team. Your designated visitor will be allowed only in your room and cannot enter other areas of the ER or the hospital.
Labor and Delivery Patients
Labor and delivery patients may have four visitors per day with no more than two visitors at the bedside at a time. Visitors must be the same four people for the length of the patient’s stay. Siblings of the new baby may visit for short periods of time (during visiting hours) and must be accompanied by an adult. Children should never be left in the care of the admitted patient. Mothers are allowed one visitor (age 18+) to stay overnight.
Surgery, Procedural and Testing Patients
Patients in surgical, procedural and testing areas may each have one support person whose access will be limited to the surgical waiting area.

Visit With Your Loved Ones Virtually
Keeping you, your loved ones and our care team safe is our priority. That may mean that due to your diagnosis or health status, it isn’t possible to spend time with others in person. We understand that staying in touch is important and can help you stay connected while avoiding the spread of infectious or communicable diseases.
We recommend using one or several of the following free apps: Facebook Messenger, Facetime, Google Hangouts, Google Duo, WhatsApp, or Skype. You and your loved one must download the same app(s). Patients have access to our Guest Wi-Fi network in the hospital; we will be happy to help if you need assistance.
