Maternity Resources for Every Stage of Your Pregnancy, Labor, and Delivery

There's a lot to take in when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth. As your belly grows, so does your list of questions. Count on our Celebrate Pregnancy and Childbirth three-day class to help prepare you for pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care. This free pregnancy education and support class is taught by DONA internationally certified birth doulas and childbirth educators, and takes place on Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 pm in the Duke room at AdventHealth Hendersonville. If you feel prepared for childbirth but are interested in learning more about breastfeeding, you're welcome to attend only the third class session, which covers breastfeeding. To learn more or to register for the Celebrate Pregnancy and Childbirth class, visit our events page.

You can feel more confident when you know what to expect. We invite you to come and tour The Baby Place before your delivery, to help you feel more comfortable and at ease during your stay. If you're taking our Celebrate Pregnancy and Childbirth class, a tour is included. Otherwise, you can sign up for a free tour by visiting our events page.

During labor and delivery, we'll provide you with everything you and your baby need for wellness and maximum comfort. If you need a caesarean section, you can feel well taken care of in our fully equipped operating room suite, which is the first in Henderson County. We offer a special viewing room so your family can witness baby's first moments, even if they can't be present with you in the operating room.

After your delivery, we're still here to take care of you. Board-certified lactation consultants are available to support breastfeeding moms, even after you leave the hospital. You can consult with a lactation consultant via phone on weekends and evenings, or request a personal consultation on an outpatient basis.

You'll always feel connected to the AdventHealth network of support thanks to our eFlash parenting newsletter, mental health screenings, counseling services, and more. With a firm commitment to whole-person wellness, we’re ready to help you prepare, relax, and get ready for all of motherhood's next steps.

A Whole-Person Approach to Care

Each stage of a woman’s life, from child to teen, pregnancy to menopause, requires specialized care. With our broad array of gynecological and obstetric services, leading diagnostics, and some of the most advanced and trusted clinical services available in North Carolina, our focus is on whole-person health and wellness. Being part of the AdventHealth network of care also means you'll always have the advanced treatments, guidance, and specialty care you expect and deserve.

Assessing Risk With Proactive Screenings

Your relationship with your baby begins the moment the thought of motherhood first enters your mind. Whether you’re considering pregnancy for the first time, are actively trying to conceive, or are just starting to show, you’re already building bonds and falling in love. For some mothers, the bonds you’re building may come with questions about your baby’s future health. If there’s any reason to believe your child may be born with a genetic disorder, we’ll help you understand the risk through a process called genetic testing.

We’ll assess your medical past, genetic and family history, and work to understand any possible risk factors. You may also be offered screenings and tests that help us assess your chances of carrying a child with genetic disorders or chromosomal abnormalities. Trust that whatever the outcome, we’ll be here to help provide answers, options, and a shoulder to lean on.

Easing Grief and Instilling Hope

If you’ve suffered a loss, we're here to support you and help you process your emotions. We’re also here to assure you that miscarriages are most commonly caused by a genetic abnormality, a condition beyond anyone’s control. Count on us to provide guidance and insight, while working to heal your body, mind, and spirit.
