Pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation, also called pediatric physiatry, is a medical specialty that involves a multidisciplinary team approach in your child’s care. It helps your child regain functions they may have lost due to a medical condition or after an injury.

Your pediatric physiatrist will collaborate with other pediatric specialists and providers to help your child improve in these areas:

• Enhancing their quality of life
• Increasing their functionality

Pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation can help your child with challenges involving gross and fine movements and skills; ambulation and mobility; spasticity and muscle tone; speech and language; chewing and swallowing; bowel and bladder; thinking and reasoning; and more.

After an in-depth medical and functional evaluation, we'll create a personalized treatment plan and discuss it with you. Prescriptions are recommended and provided for proper medications and procedures; referrals and diagnostic testing; therapies and modalities; orthosis or braces and/or durable medical equipment. We also provide ongoing monitoring of respond to treatments, with further modifications and adaptations as required.
