Operation Sunshine
Imagine for a moment you’re an administrator at an orphanage in Haiti. Your resources are limited. Your funds are meager. Yet every year, you have to make tough decisions. Decisions like whether to purchase food or medicine for the sick children in your care. Unfortunately, you can’t afford both. What do you choose? That’s a choice no one should face.

Operation Sunshine is Built on Generosity.
In Haiti, nearly 65 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. Approximately 70 percent of the health care infrastructure in Haiti was destroyed by the massive earthquake in January 2010. Not surprising, many orphanages struggle to meet the health and wellness needs of the children in their care.
That’s why AdventHealth created Operation Sunshine — to provide annual checkups and health care for the children who lack this crucial lifeline.
Working with My Neighbor’s Children — a Florida-based non-profit group — orphanages and children's homes have been identified to participate in this program.
Volunteers from AdventHealth conduct annual medical checkups for the kids. If they are sick, the children receive care at Haiti Adventist Hospital, including physician consultations, medications, laboratory tests and even hospitalization if necessary. Donations received for Operation Sunshine reimburse Haiti Adventist Hospital for the cost of the care.
