Jamaica

Andrews Memorial Hospital celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2019 and is located in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. The hospital is considered one of the best private hospitals in the Caribbean and offers a full-range of acute care services along with a 24-hour emergency department. With a wide range of outpatient services, Andrews Memorial Hospital serves as the only health care provider in Jamaica authorized to perform health screenings for the United States Embassy for immigration processing. With a staff committed to providing compassionate whole-person care to its patients, Andrews Memorial Hospital regularly provides care to government officials, corporate leaders and other leading members of the Jamaican society.

Over 20 years ago, AdventHealth provided an opportunity for Dr. Patric Rutherford, the newly appointed administrator of Andrews Memorial Hospital, to spend several months with various leaders at AdventHealth Orlando. This residency began the relationship that continues to this day.

Over the years, regular donations of materials from AdventHealth have helped strengthen the services at Andrews Memorial Hospital. Donations of medical equipment (ultrasound, portable X-ray, laboratory, etc.) and furniture (beds, stretchers, tables, etc.) have helped Andrews Memorial Hospital upgrade its services. In addition, AdventHealth has used its volume purchasing relationships to help Andrews Memorial Hospital obtain supplies which are scarce or unavailable in Jamaica (fluids, medications, etc.).

The recent donation of a cardiac catheterization lab from AdventHealth to Andrews Memorial Hospital will help expand the cardiac services available on the island.
