Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer affects nearly one in six men over the age of 65, and is the second leading cause of cancer death for men in the United States. Most cases of prostate cancer can successfully be treated if caught early. Symptoms may include trouble urinating, blood in the urine or semen, erectile dysfunction, loss of bladder or bowel control, pain in the hips and back, and weakness in the legs or feet. These symptoms can easily be connected to conditions other than prostate cancer, so diagnostic screening often provides relief for patients by ruling out a cancer diagnosis. Treatments for prostate cancer may include continuous monitoring, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and hormone therapy.
