McCarus Hysterectomy Technique

Developed by our own Dr. Steven McCarus, the McCarus hysterectomy technique is a revolutionary, minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasonic harmonic energy and robotic-assisted technology to remove the uterus though a tiny hole in the abdomen. Here, a narrow telescopic instrument with a light and camera at the end are employed along with other specially designed instruments through three “dime-sized” or keyhole incisions. The hysterectomy is then accomplished using harmonic rather than electrical energy that coagulates tissue instead of simply burning it. This alternative to a traditional abdominal hysterectomy allows women to heal faster with less scarring and fewer complications. Gynecologic surgeons from around the world have traveled to Central Florida to learn this inspirational new technique from Dr. McCarus at AdventHealth.
