About Our Program
Welcome to the 12-month PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program at AdventHealth Daytona Beach, formerly known as Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. AdventHealth Daytona Beach has 362-beds and is one of the six hospitals in Flagler, Lake and Volusia counties that composes the AdventHealth Central Florida Division - North Region. The organization’s parent company changed the name of all wholly-owned entities to AdventHealth on Jan. 2, 2019. Based in Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth is a connected system of care. With more than 83,000 team members, AdventHealth is one of the nation’s largest faith-based health care systems with 51 hospitals and hundreds of care sites in nearly a dozen states. With the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ, AdventHealth Daytona Beach provides whole person care to heal the body, mind and spirit. The PGY1 pharmacy residency program at AdventHealth Daytona Beach is the newest one established in the AdventHealth Central Florida Division with our inaugural class being recruited for the 2021-2022 residency year. We are currently in candidate accreditation status and will complete our Initial Accreditation Survey in April 2022 and intend to become fully accredited in Fall 2022.
PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. This program specifically affords residents the opportunity to participate in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings throughout the entirety of the residency year.
The residency program expands both clinical and staffing services at our facility and augments the excellent pharmacy staff we currently have. Residents will participate in a decentralized pharmacy model and work with multidisciplinary teams, monitoring responses to drug therapy and optimizing care to improve patient outcomes. Residents who complete the residency program will develop the critical thinking skills necessary to provide patient-focused care and become confident, independent clinicians in the health care team.
Thank you for your interest in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at AdventHealth Daytona Beach. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
