Dr. Rivera Meléndez chose Advent Health Altamonte Springs for its unique learning experiences, supportive environment, and mission-driven system. Yamilka is enthusiastic about developing connections and growing alongside the talented pharmacists at this campus. Outside of work, she enjoys reading a good book and listening to music. As a newcomer to the Orlando area, Dr. Rivera Meléndez is excited to discover new restaurants and activities to enjoy in her free time. She aspires to further her training by pursuing a PGY2 or securing a position in one of her areas of interest, such as pediatrics or critical care.

Dr. Cherenfant chose AdventHealth Altamonte Springs for its diverse rotations, dedication to community service, and ongoing hospital expansions that benefit the community by providing jobs and boosting the economy. Dr. Cherenfant is particularly excited about the opportunity to learn and grow as a pharmacist, applying the knowledge gained during her didactic year into practice. She aspires to become the best pharmacist she can be.

In her leisure time, Dr. Cherenfant enjoys watching emotionally engaging series, exploring new restaurants, participating in fun activities, and visiting the beach. Although she has visited Orlando briefly in the past, she is eager to explore more of what the city has to offer. Dr. Cherenfant is also keen on pursuing a PGY2 to further refine her knowledge, with interests in Infectious Disease, Cardiology, Oncology, and Critical Care. She has a year to make her decision.

Angelica Chen

Angelica A. Chen, PharmD

Pharmacy School: University of Florida College of Pharmacy

Dr. Chen chose AdventHealth Altamonte Springs to complete her PGY-1 residency because of their well-rounded and extensive pharmacy residency curriculum and electives in combination with their standard of providing high-quality, compassionate patient care. Angelica is most excited about presenting her work at pharmacy conferences throughout her residency, learning from AdventHealth's Altamonte Spring's most knowledgeable and experienced pharmacy preceptors and obtaining a teaching certificate alongside her co-residents. Outside of the hospital, Angelica enjoys playing and teaching the violin, fishing with her significant other and creating memories with parents and friends. Angelica is familiar with the Orlando area, but she still enjoys discovering new restaurants, art and historic museums, and hidden wilderness spots throughout Florida. Angelica's career goals post residency is to obtain a position as a clinical pharmacist and become a Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. Angelica has a love for teaching and hopes to become a student preceptor for up-and-coming future pharmacists.
