(Glendale Heights, Ill.) – UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks recently introduced a groundbreaking advancement in surgical technology with the acquisition of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System. This state-of-the-art robotic platform represents a significant investment in improving patient outcomes, expanding surgical capabilities, and maintaining the highest standard of healthcare for the community.
The da Vinci Xi empowers surgeons with advanced tools, enabling them to perform minimally invasive procedures with unparalleled precision and control. Surgeons trained on the da Vinci system have an enhanced visualization of the surgical site using magnified 3D HD technology, allowing them to make more precise adjustments during minimally invasive gynecologic, thoracic, urologic and general surgery procedures. Robotic surgeries potentially mean less blood loss, less pain, less risk of infection, minimal scarring and a quicker recovery for patients.
“The robot allows us to offer our patients the best surgical option," said Dr. Steven Singh, general surgeon. “With faster processes, smaller incisions and safer operations, it ultimately leads to better patient outcomes and allows them to return home to their family much faster.”
The da Vinci Xi Surgical System is now fully operational at all four UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hospitals (Bolingbrook, Hinsdale, La Grange and GlenOaks). Dr. Singh performed the inaugural case—an inguinal hernia procedure—at GlenOaks Hospital on November 17.
“Investment in the da Vinci Xi Surgical System reaffirms our commitment to staying at the forefront of medical technology and providing our patients with access to the latest and most advanced treatment options,” said Vladimir Radivojevic, president and CEO, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks. “It's an honor to serve this community and deliver exceptional care through innovation, expertise and a patient-centered approach.”
The hospital recently held a ribbon-cutting and blessing ceremony where hospital staff, providers and community members witnessed demonstrations of the robot in action.
“This hospital is providing awesome services,” said Chodri Ma Khokhar, Glendale Heights Village President, at the ribbon-cutting event. “I salute all those involved in providing this new technology to our community.”
Key features of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System include:
+ Versatility: The da Vinci Xi's modular design allows for a wide range of procedures across various specialties, including urology, gynecology, general surgery, and more.
+ Enhanced Visualization: The system's advanced 3D high-definition vision system provides surgeons with a crystal-clear view of the surgical site, allowing for precise and meticulous movements during procedures.
+ Intuitive Controls: The robotic-assisted interface translates the surgeon's hand movements into precise micro-movements of the robotic instruments, providing unmatched dexterity and control.
+ Patient Benefits: Patients undergoing surgery with the da Vinci Xi system may experience reduced pain, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery times compared to traditional surgical methods.
