Three UChicago Medicine AdventHealth hospitals have earned top safety grades from The Leapfrog Group for their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, infections and other patient harm.
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange all earned “A”s in the fall 2024 edition of The Leapfrog Group’s semiannual Hospital Safety Grade report, ranking among the safest hospitals in the nation.

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and La Grange have earned “A”s for 23 consecutive grading periods, beginning with The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2013 report. UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook has received “A”s for five consecutive grading periods, beginning in fall 2022.
“This achievement reflects our team members’ strong commitment to delivering the highest-quality whole-person care,” said Monica Reed, M.D., president and chief executive officer of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth. “While delivering care that addresses patients’ physical, mental and spiritual needs, our medical professionals have adopted the latest best practices for ensuring patient safety.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems that hospitals have implemented to prevent patient harm.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook, Hinsdale and La Grange,” said Leah Binder, president and chief executive officer of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to your leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
