An Orlando radio DJ was taken aback when a routine physical led to the diagnosis of a condition that required heart surgery.
Obie Diaz was in his 20s at the time and has since undergone two open-heart surgeries at AdventHealth hospitals.
In the latest episode of the Inspiring Wholeness podcast, Diaz is joined by his surgeon, Kevin Accola, MD, a cardiac and thoracic surgeon at the AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute, to discuss how the surgeries altered his life's mission.
"After this surgery and after going through this, the job has changed -- the mission has changed," Diaz said. "Instead of just being an entertainment guy, now it's an ambassador for just good living ... I have a little bit more of a sensitive nature to people's well-being."
Listen to the episode below to learn more about the following from Dr. Accola:
- Common symptoms of heart problems
- Effective preventive measures for maintaining heart health
- The connection between mental and heart health
- Advice on how to start taking care of your heart now instead of waiting for an event
