Hurricane Dorian Updates for the AdventHealth Locations in Volusia, Flagler and Lake Counties

Flagler, Lake, and Volusia Counties, Florida - September 2, 2019
AdventHealth has not closed any hospitals in the Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties area. However, hospital officials are closely monitoring the storm’s path, as well as expected winds and storm surge impacts to our area, and are prepared to make any adjustments if needed.
Based on Hurricane Dorian’s current trajectory, AdventHealth has transferred inpatients from AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach to sister facilities in an abundance of caution. The emergency department at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach remains open and ready to serve the community.
All elective procedures (including elective surgeries, imaging, outpatient labs, rehab, etc.) have been cancelled for Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4.
AdventHealth Medical Group has notified patients of office closures for Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4. Patients with scheduled appointments can also call their physician’s office to confirm the status of their appointment in advance.
On Tuesday, Sept. 3, AdventHealth Centra Care locations at DeLand, Mount Dora, Orange City, Palm Coast, and Port Orange are open from 8 am to 8 pm, provided weather permits and road conditions are safe for travel.
The Reflections Building in Ormond Beach and the Summit Building in Orange City are also closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4 to all nonessential staff.
It is important to note that AdventHealth hospitals are not community storm shelters as the facilities will be focused on the care and safety of patients. Those seeking shelter from the storm should utilize the closest county shelter.
As of today (Monday, Sept. 2), AdventHealth eCare visits are free for Floridians throughout the storm via the AdventHealth app. These virtual visits are typically $49, but during the storm, users can access free, live and secure telehealth consultations from AdventHealth medical providers who will diagnose urgent health problems and recommend treatment.
Common conditions treated through eCare include: Cold and flu symptoms; skin conditions; seasonal allergies; urinary tract infections; lower back pain, minor burns, cuts, bumps and scrapes; and pink eye. If a prescription is needed, it will be called in to the patient’s pharmacy.
The AdventHealth app is available through mobile device app stores. Search AdventHealth to find and download the app. Once downloaded, create or log in to an existing AdventHealth account to have whole health at your fingertips. For eCare, click on “find care” on the bottom of the screen, and then click the icon for “set up a video visit.”

Based on the current trajectory and prediction models for Hurricane Dorian, AdventHealth does not expect to close any hospitals in the Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties area at this time. However, hospital officials are closely monitoring the storm’s path and expected impact to the area and are prepared to make any adjustments if needed.
