The Hinsdale Hospital Foundation and La Grange Memorial Hospital Foundation are honored to announce generous estate gifts from the late Dorothy V. Clarke and Kenton H. Clarke Jr., whose legacies will have a lasting impact on health care in the community.
The estate of Dorothy V. Clarke has made a transformational gift of $2.4 million, continuing the remarkable legacy of giving within our community. Of this generous donation, $1.2 million will support UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale, while the other $1.2 million will benefit UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange. This spirit of philanthropy is further exemplified by the Kenton H. Clarke Jr. estate, which has contributed $20,000 to UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale. Together, these contributions not only enhance our hospitals but also reflect the enduring commitment of our community to improve healthcare for all.
“We are honored and deeply grateful for the extraordinary generosity of the late Dorothy and Kenton Clarke,” said Elise MacCarroll-Wright, president and CEO of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale. “Their legacy gift will have a lasting impact, ensuring that our hospitals continue to provide exceptional, compassionate care for generations to come.”
In partnership with the Foundation boards, hospital leadership will invest in the most urgent capital priorities and strategic initiatives.
“Legacy gifts are more than generous donations – they are investments in the health and vitality of our community,” said Dave Tkachuck, president and CEO, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange. “For more than 70 years, our hospital has been supported by a generous community, and that tradition continues when individuals choose to include our hospitals in their estate plans. The foresight and generosity of donors like the Clarke family will leave an enduring mark on every life we touch.”
Planned and estate gifts like these are vital to the future of health care. They allow donors to make a meaningful impact beyond their lifetime, often enabling them to support causes they care about in a more significant way than might be possible during their lifetime.
“Planned giving is a practical way to make a lasting impact,” said Meghan Moreno, vice president, Midwest Health Foundation. “It allows individuals to support the causes they care about beyond their lifetime and ensures their legacy is aligned with their long-term values and goals.”
