AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedic Institute are joining forces to pioneer research and innovative care in Central Florida. Rothman Orthopaedics is an internationally recognized leader in high-quality orthopedic research, treatment and associated services, headquartered in Philadelphia.

The goal behind the partnership is to create a groundbreaking, comprehensive specialty network that is the new gold standard in quality, innovation, research and whole-person care.

When Rothman Orthopaedics begins to see patients in Central Florida later this year, in partnership with AdventHealth, they will provide top of the line treatment for orthopedic issues including:

  • Arthritis and osteoporosis
  • Foot and ankle issues
  • Fracture care
  • Joint replacement
  • Physical medicine
  • Reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, elbow and hand
  • Sports medicine

In 2023, AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics will establish a surgical hub in a 12-story, 300,000 square-foot building on the AdventHealth Orlando campus.

Natural Fit For a Partnership

Rothman Orthopaedics is a research pioneer, committed to uncovering the root cause of diseases and injuries and finding better ways to treat them. Central to their mission, their care philosophy is centered on evidence-based medicine — using data to objectively measure everything from post-surgical recovery to patient outcomes.

Rothman’s team of more than 60 full-time researchers work alongside their physicians to develop new standards of care. This data-centric approach allows their team to identify problems early, make swift corrections and improve the overall care experience.

“Rothman Orthopaedics is a world leader,” said Daryl Tol, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division, “and together with the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute, we are building a team to pursue a big idea and bright future.”

“We’ve wanted to build the kind of program that can be a global leader in orthopaedics here in Central Florida, but also one that draws people from around the world to this amazing destination in which we get to live and work all the time,” Tol said.

“We’ve been looking for a partner who thinks like we do, who is an expert and who is highly aspirational,” he added.

Rothman Orthopaedics President, Dr. Alexander R. Vaccaro, describes their institute as a group of 220 orthopedic surgeons who are fellowship trained, in-network providers. “We specialize in not only academic medicine, but we also have outreach programs in all of our communities. Our strategy is to decentralize, go out to where the patients are, and bring superb academic, evidence-based, value-based care to communities in need,” he said.
