We’re Here for You
You’re here because you care about your loved ones. As they face major victories or health challenges, your visits, smiles, and kind words show you’re ready to support them through everything.
While you’re there for your loved one, we’re here for you. At AdventHealth, formerly Shawnee Mission Health, we know how stressful a visit to the hospital can be, so we’ve tried to make it a little easier. Browse our three hospital gift shops, take advantage of our free valet parking and, above all, keep visiting your loved one. Your presence and support is an important part of their healing process.
Visitor Resources at AdventHealth
- Visiting Hours
Your visits strengthen your loved ones, and we want you to feel welcome here. Our general visiting hours are between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm. To find out about staying overnight with your loved one, simply ask a nurse. Visiting guidelines for AdventHeath Shawnee Mission and its specific areas are listed below:
Intensive Care Unit
In the ICU, your loved one’s immediate family and/or significant other may visit anytime during general visiting hours as long as your loved one approves. We encourage up to three visitors at a time in the ICU.
Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Unit
Visiting hours are 5:30 pm to 7 pm. For children under 12, visiting hours are 5 pm to 5:30 pm.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Parents may visit the NICU at any time. We ask for only two visitors at a time, one of whom must be the baby’s parent or guardian. Siblings may visit at the discretion of the baby’s physician or nurse.
Your loved one’s care team will establish visiting hours based upon your loved one’s condition, needs, and desires. Parent/spouse may visit at any time. For the safety of those in our care, please do not bring latex balloons to the Birth Center. While you’re here visiting your loved one, we're here to serve. Learn about our onsite retail options and extensive visiting hours. We’re making it easier to support the people you care about.
