The Knowledge You Need

To Become a Mom

Pregnancy is an exciting and sometimes uncertain journey. At AdventHealth Heart of Florida, formerly Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, our caring team helps you understand what to expect during labor, delivery and beyond. We’re here to make these memorable nine months of your life go as smoothly as possible.

Each month, our supportive prenatal education team meets with expecting parents to go over all the details of childbirth. By taking these classes, you can take some of the uncertainty out of becoming a parent.

Childbirth Education Series

The more you learn, the more you can prepare to approach the big day with confidence. Gain a better understanding of labor and delivery and get answers about the birthing process from a certified childbirth educator at a birthing center near you.

Our education series focuses on pregnancy, what to expect during the stages of labor, relaxation techniques, postpartum care, breastfeeding and much more. We encourage labor partners to attend. The class is $45 per couple, and we offer convenient Saturday classes.

Labor and Delivery Unit Tours

Understanding your hospital's layout and policies will help you prepare for a positive birth experience. Our tours are designed to provide expectant mothers and their partners with information about our hospital amenities and services.

Breastfeeding Classes

Expectant moms and their support person or partner can learn about the importance of breastfeeding and breast care. You’ll gain an understanding of your baby’s feeding needs and methods to ensure adequate nutrition. This class is $15.

Breastfeeding Support Group

A supportive network of other moms can make a big difference in your breastfeeding experience. At our breastfeeding support group, led by our board-certified lactation consultant, you’ll meet other breastfeeding moms and learn tips on making breastfeeding work for you and your baby. This group meets the second Tuesday of the month and is open to all breastfeeding and expectant moms.

Father’s Corner

We recognize the important role that dad plays during the birthing process. In addition to our one-day prenatal education class, we encourage expectant fathers to seek the support of other experienced fathers through valuable resources such as:
