- Learn All the First and Next Steps
You've read all the infant product reviews and birthing books, but as your belly grows, so does your list of questions. That’s why we offer a variety of educational resources and opportunities to help you feel prepared and empowered. These classes can include childbirth education classes, parenting courses, CPR training, and lactation support.
After you give birth, our eFlash newsletter and Mommy and Baby University support group (with newborn weigh-ins) help you stay connected to other moms and educators in the first few weeks and months after childbirth. There’s a lot to learn about the days ahead. Let us be your guide through it all. Learn about some of our upcoming classes and events.
- Equipped to Handle Problems, Big or Small
As amazing and wonderful as pregnancy is, it also comes with worries. We want to help you understand some of the risks throughout your pregnancy, so you can feel better-prepared. We’ll start by gathering a full picture of your wellness, considering your health and your family health history. Your answers may prompt us to perform genetic or blood tests to check for the risk of chromosomal disorders or defects. Should the tests reveal anything, we’ll be there to answer all your questions and provide the care and attention that you and your baby need.
Sometimes, even against your best efforts and ours, issues can arise during delivery. If this happens, our emergency-trained staff, maternal-fetal specialists, and neonatologists are on hand 24/7 for infants who come a little early, or who require special care. Our Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is specially designed to protect and promote the developing senses of newborns. Each NICU room features safety and medical support for unexpected emergencies and even critical care, but is also designed with the needs of worried parents in mind with family-centered private rooms, overnight accommodations, showers, a mini-fridge, and lots of breastfeeding support. This is our way of making sure that no matter what happens, you can be there for your baby. So let us be there for you.
- Health Care for Your Whole Life
Our commitment to moms and their families goes well beyond our BirthCare Center walls. Pediatric specialists are only steps away in our hospital, and our Women’s Care OB/GYN department offers compassionate, comprehensive, and expert care. Our whole-person approach to wellness keeps you healthy and strong throughout every stage of family planning and life. Our full range of services including:

- Baby-Friendly® Designated
AdventHealth Daytona Beach is the only hospital in Volusia County to earn the Baby-Friendly® designation from Baby-Friendly USA, Inc., a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The accreditation certifies that our team adheres to a set of evidence-based practices shown to support breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
Breastfeeding offers numerous benefits, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Breast milk is easier for the baby to digest than formula and it contains the right combination of nutrients. In addition, it reduces the incidence of babies developing an allergic reaction, constipation, diarrhea, ear infections, upper respiratory infection and colds. Breast milk is low cost, convenient and readily available in the correct quantity and temperature. Furthermore, breastfeeding facilitates physical and emotional bonding between mother and baby and it helps the mother’s uterus return to the pre-pregnant state much faster.
