We don’t want you to sit on the sidelines a moment longer than you have to. Joint Replacement Surgery

You used to take the stairs, until joint pain began creeping into your life. Now you avoid doing a lot of the simple things you used to do to stay healthy and active. Through our minimally invasive joint replacement surgery, including knee replacement and hip replacement surgeries, we’ll help you find greater comfort and strength so you can embrace everything life has to offer. Joint replacement surgery can help relieve pain, restore your freedom of movement, and return you to your daily activities. And in the capable hands of our orthopedic surgeons, you can depend on receiving the very best treatments for your joint pain. We’ll do all we can to help you heal in body, mind, and spirit, bringing you whole-person care from start to finish.

At the Metroplex Center for Joint Replacement, we believe you are the key to a successful recovery.

Annually, over 400,000 people undergo total joint replacement surgery. Primary candidates are individuals with chronic joint pain from arthritis that interferes with daily activities, walking, exercise, leisure, recreation, and work. The surgery aims to relieve pain, restore your independence and return you to work and other daily activities.

Our goal is to involve you in your treatment through each step of the program.

Comprehensive Care

  • Care Coordinator
  • Physicians
  • Nurses
  • Physical and Occupational Therapists
  •  An important aspect our program is that participants are students, not patients. Each student chooses a coach—usually a family member, friend, or loved one—who is an active participant in their care before, during, and after discharge from the hospital.

Coaches learn the program right along with their loved one and provide encouragement and support every step of the way.

Both student and coach are required to attend a pre-operative class one to two weeks before surgery. In the class, they meet their joint care team and learn about the procedure in detail, including what to expect in the hospital and how to care for oneself after discharge. The joint care coordinator oversees the student’s entire stay, and is their resource before, during, and after discharge.

Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Program

Metroplex is participating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) program. The program is a new payment model being tested for episodes of care related to total knee and total hip replacements under Medicare, with the goal of supporting better and more efficient care coordination for patients undergoing the most common inpatient surgeries.

The Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model continues to pay providers under existing payment systems, but holds hospitals responsible for the quality and costs of the initial procedure through 90 days after the patient is discharged. Through the CJR program, CMS expects improved coordination of care among hospitals, physicians, and post-acute care providers – from surgery to recovery –to benefit patients and result in better outcomes and fewer complications.

A Network of Connected, Compassionate Care

We want you to feel confident in the care you receive, so we’ll involve you in every step of the treatment process. That means answering all your questions, educating you on what to expect before and after your surgery, and making sure you have all the resources you need for continued healing. At every stage, you’ll have a multidisciplinary support team that includes a Care Coordinator, physicians, nurses, orthopedists, and physical and occupational therapists. And because we know you respond best to the people you love, we’ll invite you to choose a coach from among your family or friends — someone who will encourage you throughout the treatment process.

To prepare you for orthopedic surgery, we’ll invite you and your coach to attend a pre-operative class one to two weeks before your procedure. You’ll meet your orthopedic care team and learn what to expect during your stay and how to care for your joints after orthopedic surgery. You'll also meet your Care Coordinator who will answer your questions, make sure all your needs are met, and act as your primary point of contact within our network of care. From start to finish, you’ll find everything we do has a single focus: you.
