Metroplex Adventist Hospital has been awarded a three-year accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). CT scanning, or CAT scanning, is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose various medical conditions.
“At Metroplex, we are always working to ensure we are providing the highest quality patient care,” said Carlyle Walton, president and CEO of Metroplex Health System. “Receiving this accreditation from a nationally respected organization such as the American College of Radiology confirms that our Imaging team is not only qualified to perform medical imaging, interpret images, and administer radiation therapy treatments, but they do so in a way that exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards. These standards are evaluated during a peer-review by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The review assesses image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation.
