Nationwide, there is a growing demand for educated and compassionate advanced practice providers. We’re dedicated to meeting that need by providing 12-month post-graduate fellowships for nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Our fellowship program is a dedicated year of training and education to prepare you for your role as an advanced practice provider.
Grow Your Skills in Cardiovascular Medicine
Cardiovascular medicine is a multifaceted discipline that spans a lifetime. The Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship program provides in-depth clinical and didactic study in adult general and subspeciality cardiology — in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Providers will diagnose and manage low- to high-complexity cardiovascular diseases while working alongside esteemed physicians and advanced practice providers.

In our cardiovascular medicine fellowship program, APPs are offered a comprehensive and structured training experience designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in managing a variety of patients. Some of the key benefits of our program are below.

By the end of the fellowship year, the fellow should have experience in the following:
- Cultivate skills in interdisciplinary collaboration and systems-based practice, which help improve effective communication skills and teamwork for best patient outcomes
- Demonstrate mastery of current guidelines and evidence-based practices in cardiology through regular assessments and active discussion in didactic sessions
- Develop procedural skills (ECG interpretation and POCUS) and communication techniques through simulation
- Engage in high-fidelity simulation scenarios to practice acute cardiovascular emergency management (STEMI, cardiogenic shock, arrhythmias)
- Participate in progressional development curriculum focused on leadership, billing and coding, quality, ethics and career advancement

Our clinical curriculum is designed around monthly core rotation blocks through general cardiology, surgical cardiology and nonsurgical subspecialties:
- General cardiology inpatient (core)
- General cardiology outpatient (core)

- Elective – three months at the conclusion of fellowship for in-depth training in anticipation of transition to a career in cardiovascular medicine

- Current AG-ACNP/ACNP or PA students currently enrolled in an accredited program

- One-page statement of interest
- Transcripts from graduate education program — if you are a current student, send transcripts reflective of status within the program (minimum GPA of 3.5 required)
- Copy of BLS and ACLS certifications
- Three letters of recommendation addressing clinical experience, clinical knowledge, critical thinking and professionalism — specifications for letters of recommendation found on application

Fellows are selected based on demonstrated academic and clinical achievement, commitment to practice in a critical care environment, motivation, communication skills, overall maturity and growth mindset.
Upon acceptance of the online application, applicants must be available for an interview with program staff at AdventHealth. All travel-related costs are at the expense of the candidate.
Successful applications will meet all hiring requirements of the AdventHealth Medical Group Human Resources Department.

The interview day will consist of program orientation, a committee interview, individual interview and a tour of the AdventHealth Orlando campus. The interview committee is composed of cardiology APPs, physicians and senior leadership. The following core competencies will be considered:

After completing the AdventHealth Medical Group APP Fellowship, participants will be well-prepared to begin their cardiovascular medicine career, sit for the American College of Cardiology Certified Cardiovascular Knowledge Examination (CCKE), and will receive a certificate of completion issued by the program.
Full-time employment offers are contingent upon position availability and performance review.
