AdventHealth Acquires Exodus Women's Center

AdventHealth announced today it has signed an agreement to acquire Tampa Bay’s leading provider of comprehensive women’s services, Exodus Women’s Center, and its affiliated entities. The agreement includes the purchase, or lease, of all 12 medical office locations in Hillsborough and Polk Counties, as well as an administrative office. Clinical operations under AdventHealth are expected to begin in early January 2021, and once final, all Exodus Women’s Center clinical locations will become part of the AdventHealth West Florida Division.

“We are excited to expand our network of care and provide greater access to women’s health care services in our community,” said Mike Schultz, President and CEO, AdventHealth West Florida Division. “Exodus Women’s Center has a long history in this community and is a valuable asset to the region. We look forward to building on their history and delivering our brand of faith-based, whole-person care.”

The AdventHealth West Florida Division continues to grow its network of care in response to the needs of the communities it serves. The division recently announced its partnership with Moffitt Cancer Center to expand cancer services in Wesley Chapel, and opened an outpatient imaging center and expanded physician office locations in Brandon, FL, the fast-growing community in Eastern Hillsborough County. In addition, the AdventHealth West Florida Division network of care includes 10 hospitals, four freestanding emergency rooms, one long-term care facility, urgent care centers, express care clinics, mobile mammography services, hundreds of physician practices and a clinically integrated network.

Exodus Women’s Center has provided the community with women’s health care services since 1992 and specializes in low and high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, fertility, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and menopause.

“We are honored AdventHealth, a proven healthcare leader, will be continuing and expanding the mission we embarked on 28 years ago to provide quality, compassionate obstetrical and gynecological care to all women in our community,” said Susan Levine, President and CEO, Exodus Women’s Center.

Work to complete the transaction will take place over the next few months, as leaders work to ensure a smooth transition. Until the transaction is complete, current ownership will remain in place. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

About Exodus Women’s Center

Exodus Women’s Center was founded for the purpose of alleviating a severe shortage of OB/GYN physicians who accepted Medicaid in Hillsborough County. From a few offices in 1992, Exodus has gradually expanded its network to serve more patients throughout Hillsborough and Polk Counties. To further its mission of ensuring positive outcomes, Exodus partnered with the Healthy Start Initiative to enroll patients in the program and to help reduce their risk of poor maternal and child health. In 2012, the Healthy Start Coalition of Hardee, Highlands and Polk Counties named Exodus its “Provider of the Year.” In November 2013, Exodus partnered directly with REACHUP, Inc., in conjunction with the Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions and the Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough County, to participate in the Strong Start for Mothers and Newborns Initiative (funded by CMS) in Hillsborough and Polk Counties. As part of this initiative, Exodus provides facilities in its offices where REACHUP/Healthy Start case managers can meet privately with and counsel expectant mothers on a variety of issues including substance abuse, disease management, procuring maternal/fetal testing/medications, referrals to community resources, family planning, birth plans, and oversight to ensure patients return for follow up visits.
