Dry Needling Therapy

What is Dry Needling?

Functional dry needling, provided by a trained physical therapist, treats muscle pain and movement dysfunction. Your physical therapist will insert thin, sterile needles into specific trigger points, causing a mild pinprick sensation and possibly a deep ache or twitch response.

This process helps alleviate pain, improves flexibility and movement and promotes healing.

Like acupuncture, dry needling uses needles inserted into the muscle to relieve pain. However, dry needling targets specific trigger points or areas of tightness to release tension and improve mobility. Combined with physical therapy exercise, it’s a great therapy for sports-related injuries and chronic pain.

After your dry needling session, you might experience muscle soreness similar to a tough workout, but it usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours.
