Vascular Surgery
Vascular surgery refers to a broad array of procedures to address problems with the body’s arteries and veins. Conditions that vascular surgery may address including carotid stenosis, varicose veins, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral artery disease and more. Typical procedures that a vascular surgeon may provide include angioplasty and stenting, sclerotherapy, carotid endarterectomy, open aortic surgery, thrombectomy, endovenous laser treatment and vascular bypass surgery. Vascular surgeons receive at least five years of additional medical training in this field beyond their initial internship, and are certified by the American Board of Surgery or the Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
