Skin Cancer Surgery
Our surgeons employ the most advanced and effective techniques for removing all types of skin cancers. From curettage and electrodessication procedures to Mohs micrographic surgery, simple excisions, complex melanoma surgery and reconstructive techniques, they provide the highest level of care via the state-of-the-art treatment facilities of AdventHealth. For facial skin cancers and those involving potentially significant cosmetic impacts, Mohs micrographic surgery is often employed because it allows the surgeon to preserve as much healthy tissue as possible. Here, specially trained surgeons can carefully cut a lesion from the skin one thin layer at a time, examining each one under the microscope before proceeding. Once all of the suspicious cells have been removed along with a small margin of healthy tissue, the surgery is complete and the wound dressed – except in cases where a reconstruction procedure immediately follows.
