Ingrown Toenails
An ingrown toenail is what occurs when part of a toenail grows into the flesh on either side of it, causing pain, redness, inflammation and occasionally an infection to occur. You may want to seek medical assistance for an ingrown toenail from your podiatrist or primary care physician if the pain you are experiencing is distracting or debilitating, and especially if there is any sign of infection such as excessive redness, bleeding, pus or swelling. Patients who have poor blood circulation in their extremities – including diabetics – should be particularly careful to ensure against infections caused by an ingrown nail.
