Dyslexia is a disorder in which a person has difficulty reading, writing and comprehending words due to an abnormality in the way their brain processes language. This disorder can be a hereditary issue and is not uncommon in children and adults with ADD, or Attention Deficit Disorder. It is often first detected in school-aged children. Kids with dyslexia have normal seeing capabilities and normal intelligence but may be observed to have developmental delays in terms of talking, reading aloud and learning new vocabulary. While no "cure" for dyslexia exists, effective treatments are available in the form of customized learning programs that help boost kids’ self-esteem as well as their reading levels.
