Cognitive Function Assessments
Cognitive function can become impaired for a number of reasons, including side effects from medication, endocrine derangements, depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s. In order to find out what is causing the impairment, a cognitive function assessment will be performed so your doctor can create a plan of care that is catered to your condition. An assessment may include a combination of cognitive testing and interviews with the patient and their caregiver. Other screening tools or written and verbal tests may be used to evaluate the level of impairment. If this screening proves that an impairment exists, you may be referred to a specialist who will help diagnose and manage your condition.
