Birth Injuries

In rare circumstances, a birth injury may result in the onset of seizures and epilepsy. Babies who asphyxiate during the birthing process – usually due to a difficult or traumatic birth – will experience a lack of oxygen to the brain which may result in epileptic-type symptoms. Treatment of children with birth injuries depends on the type and severity of the problem and requires the skills of a physician specially trained in this area. Due to the complex issues of a birth injury, the child must be carefully examined and monitored to best determine what method of care is needed.
