Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Abnormal uterine bleeding is bleeding that occurs in between periods, that is particularly heavy during a woman’s menstrual cycle, or that occurs after menopause. There are many possible causes of this condition, most of which are treatable by a trained gynecologist. These causes range from a bleeding disorder to uterine fibroids or polyps, hormonal changes, genital irritation, endometrial lesions, a pelvic or vaginal infection, endometrial cancer and radiation therapy. Your doctor will be able to determine the cause of your abnormal uterine bleeding and recommend a treatment to address it. Possible treatment methods include hormonal therapy, oral contraceptives, thyroid medication and minimally invasive surgical options.
