Ginger Walraven was recently awarded AdventHealth Gordon’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospital’s directors.
Walraven, who works as AdventHealth Gordon’s employee health nurse, was nominated by Jeni Hasselbrack, AdventHealth Gordon vice president of human resources and regional human resources business partner for the Southeast region, with the following words: “Ginger always takes her job very seriously and wants to do her best in every aspect of it. She consistently flexes her schedule to accommodate night and weekend staff without being asked. As we have had a lot of changes with employee health at AdventHealth Murray, she has stepped in to help without being asked.
“Part of our five-star status is having flu shot participation of over 90 percent for all of our employees, students, agencies and physicians, both employed and non-employed. This year after our initial push, we only had a participation rate of 84 percent. Ginger took it upon herself to go through every name that we had not received flu shot information on and made sure we received the information that we needed. Thanks to her, our flu shot rate was finally over 90 percent. I think she consistently goes the extra mile for our employees and our hospital.”
