Cozy Cart Program
Judy Morrison is one of the 100 volunteers at AdventHealth Palm Coast and AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway making a big impact on the 12,000 patients admitted over the last 12 months to the hospitals for care.
Morrison became a volunteer last year and helps with the Cozy Cart program, bringing cheer to patients and their loved ones, offering a kind word and complimentary snacks and items such as Chapstick and ear plugs to help make their stay a little better.
“It’s an amazing program,” said Lisa Bordis, senior manager of volunteer services at AdventHealth Palm Coast and AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway. “Our volunteers are doing this out of their love for the community.”
It’s a sentiment that Morrison echoes, explaining that volunteering at the hospital is a very rewarding experience.
“Every day I come here, I don’t know what I’m going to face,” said Morrison. “Sometimes I face traumatic experiences. Sometimes they are very humorous. It is always very special, and I always go away thinking I am doing a good thing.”
Those interested in volunteering, email Lisa.Bordis@AdventHealth.com to request an application or visit the gift shop at AdventHealth Palm Coast, 60 Memorial Medical Pkwy.
