Two Florida Hospitals Reach the Highest Level of Electronic Medical Records Adoption

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla., January 24, 2018 Florida Hospital DeLand and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center have both received the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Analytics Stage 7 designation, the highest level of achievement on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM), which is used to track electronic medical records progress at hospitals and health systems.

HIMSS Analytics developed the EMRAM to evaluate the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals. The stages measure a hospitals implementation and utilization of information technology applications.

As the final stage in the EMRAM, Stage 7 represents an advanced electronic patient record environment. The validation process to confirm a hospital has reached Stage 7 includes a site visit by an executive from HIMSS Analytics and former or current chief information officers to ensure an unbiased evaluation of the Stage 7 environments.

Earning the HIMSS Stage 7 validation is a remarkable achievement accomplished by only a fraction of hospitals across the country, said David Ottati, regional CEO of the Florida Hospitals in Volusia County. Locally, Florida Hospital DeLand and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center join Florida Hospital Flagler and Florida Hospital Fish Memorial on the prestigious list.
