Merriam, Kan. – Shawnee Mission Health (SMH) and Ransom Memorial Hospital (RMH) of Ottawa, Kan. have established a new partnership to offer more expansive cardiology services to meet the growing demand for cardiac care in the greater Franklin County area. The partnership became effective Aug. 1.
Through this partnership, SMH provides full-time, comprehensive cardiac services to Ottawa residents, the Franklin County community and surrounding areas. In addition, RMH patients will now gain access to SMH’s medical team of Board-certified cardiovascular physicians, nurses and ancillary team members, and a program with a long-standing reputation as a center of excellence for cardiac and vascular care.
“This partnership allows us to carry out our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ to the broader community of Ransom Memorial, while allowing residents in Ottawa and surrounding counties the opportunity to seek cardiac care close to home at Ransom Memorial Hospital,” said SMH Executive Director of Heart and Vascular Services Vickie Franck. “Our team is our greatest asset and we look forward to providing this community the same high-quality care that Shawnee Mission Health is known for in Kansas City.”
As part of the RMH partnership, Shawnee Mission Cardiovascular Associates (SMCA) is now providing full-time cardiologist coverage and around-the-clock on-call service for RMH patients. Beginning Aug. 21, SMH cardiologists will also offer services through an on-site cardiology physician clinic Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. The physician clinic will offer a device clinic for patients with pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators and cardiologists will perform all Ransom Memorial inpatient cardiology consultations and cardiac testing. SMH will also provide required physician supervision for RMH’s cardiac rehabilitation program.
“As a growing health care organization, we were seeking an engaged partner who can supplement our coverage with expanded cardiology services for the Ottawa community, and beyond,” said RMH President and CEO Matt Heyn. “Shawnee Mission Health was our partner of choice for many reasons, including their focus on providing high quality care with an exceptional patient experience and their full-service, reputable heart and vascular program. We are glad to now be working with their team of seasoned physicians who are dedicated to finding successful outcomes for each patient. One of the main driving forces behind the RMH cardiovascular clinic is to provide more cardiology services locally.” If you would like to maintain local cardiology services at RMH cardiovascular clinic, please call Call833-RMH-CARE Call833-764-2273) for more information and to make an appointment.
The goal of the partnership is to improve the heart health of residents of Ottawa and surrounding areas by providing exceptional and convenient cardiac care within RMH’s community. SMH’s comprehensive cardiovascular program offers a range of services, including cardiothoracic surgery, diagnostic and interventional cardiology and vascular services, non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, a heart failure clinic, a structural heart clinic, a lung nodule clinic, cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation, and preventive programs such as HeartAware and The Take Time To LIV Cardiometabolic program. Through the new partnership, patients will receive care from highly-specialized, Board-certified physicians, including cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, electrophysiologists, and vascular surgeons. Since its founding in 1962, SMH has continued to expand its reach to provide care for patients from throughout the Kansas City metro area and around the Midwest.
