Overland Park, Kan. The medical office building at Shawnee Mission Health (SMH) - Overland Park, located in the Bluhawk development, is now open. Services offered within the building include Women's Imaging, Primary Care and SportsCare, adjacent to the Emergency Department, Lab and Imaging Center that opened in February.
The 75,000-square-foot medical office building offers patient care from physicians in a variety of specialties. Existing services include Women's Imaging with 2D and 3D mammography and sports medicine through the SMH SportsCare program. Shawnee Mission Primary Care Blue Valley has also moved to its permanent location in Suite 210 in the building. Jason Bessey, DO, and Lauren Bessey, DO, are the providers with the Blue Valley location, which was previously located at 135th Street and Grandview in Overland Park. The opening of the medical office building is expected to bring an additional 12 full-time equivalent jobs to the campus.
"As we continue expanding the SMH Overland Park campus, our goal is to provide high-quality health care for residents in southeastern Johnson County. As the only five-star hospital in the Kansas City metro area, we look forward to making the quality services we offer on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center campus even more convenient by bringing them closer to people who live and work in this area," said SMH President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Bacon.
SMH partnered with general contractor GE Johnson, Henderson Engineers, Inc., ACI Boland Architects,HKS, Inc., and engineering firms Olsson Associates and Bob D. Campbell & Co., Inc. on the SMH Overland Park campus, which began construction in October 2015. Copaken Brooks is the listing agent for the medical office building.
"Every aspect of our campus is designed to deliver on the Adventist Health System mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ," said Administrative Director for SMH Overland Park Derek Ortner. "Our goal is that all who visit our campus will come to appreciate our dedication to providing much more than medicine."
The new building is located in the Bluhawk development at 7840 W 165th Street (east of Antioch and 165th Street) Overland Park, Kan., 66223.
