Ruff recognized with DAISY Award

Leslie Ruff, RN, has been named Gordon Hospitals latest DAISY Award recipient. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human tasks nurses perform every day.

Ruff, who works in Gordon Hospitals clinical improvement department and previously worked in the hospitals intensive care unit (ICU), received a nomination with the following statement from a patient: In May 2017, I was admitted to Gordon Hospitals emergency room with acute sepsis, and during my stay, I had a heart attack. I was immediately placed in the ICU by Dr. Stearns, where I received the best care I could imagine. One nurse stood out and rose above the amazing work of the others who cared for me: Leslie Ruff. She was phenomenal. It became apparent to me when I was first admitted to the ICU that this nurse was committed to saving my life. Her dedication stood out among the rest because she made is apparent that she was personally committed to me as human and someone worth saving. When I was transferred to Redmond Regional Medical Center for a stent placement, her tearful embrace showed me that she had invested herself fully in my recovery. I will be forever indebted to the personal giving of Leslie Ruff. Her dedication to my healing has made a great difference to me. She has truly touched me with the gift of life.

About the DAISY Foundation

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, California, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.)
